TAC Teleconference: Software License Compliance Audits -- Lessons Learned
Thursday, March 9, 2010 at 4:00 PM EST

Software license compliance audits by external parties are an increasingly common occurrence, whether initiated by a software publisher or a compliance organization such as the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA). An estimated 75% of organizations will be subject to at least one such audit over a 12-to-18 month period.
In addition to unbudgeted penalty and license true-up fees, license compliance audits can be time and resource consumptive, disrupting business and affecting employee morale; in a worst case scenario, the organization faces public disclosure and reputational damage.

Based on a compilation of audit experiences, TAC Expert Sherry Irwin will discuss the many factors that need to be considered when an audit request is received. Issues to be addressed include:
  • Why Us? What Prompts an Audit
  • Common Audit Approaches
  • Audit Impacts
  • Responding to an Audit: Do’s and Don’ts
  • Toolkit: Audit Response Plan and Audit Agreement
